This is my view in winter, which I painted while referencing a photo my neighbor took. The sky was remarkable that day, which made it difficult to capture the sun streaking through the clouds and crashing down onto the Sound just right. Snow is very rare here, so this was a particularly beautiful scene. Subdued color and letting the white of the paper show through were key to making this painting work.
